FAQs
What is yoga?
Yoga is often thought of as being flexible, but it is so much more.
Yoga includes breath control, warm-up exercises, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, widely practiced for well-being, fitness, and relaxation.
I am not flexible. Can I do yoga?
Yoga is an opportunity to take care of your whole body and keeps you active and healthy and calms your mind. The benefits of yoga help with mental health and improve physical health by boosting strength, flexibility, balance, and heart health.
With time and care, even my most 'inflexible' students find they can move with more fluidity.
Can anyone do yoga?
Yes, there are lots of types of yoga suitable for everyone’s bodies, and there is chair yoga, which I also teach, that suits people who aren’t as mobile. The types of yoga I teach are Hatha, Yin, and chair yoga. When your body tells you to stop, you will learn to listen to it and back off a little if necessary. Your body and mind will reward you with improved health.
How do I know which style of yoga to choose?
Each style of yoga aims to achieve improved health in its own way. I draw on influences from many yoga styles and techniques. For example, Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga, and meditation practices are designed to align and calm your body and mind.
Can I practice with a health condition or injury?
Many people use yoga to manage health conditions, but it's important to consult a doctor or a qualified yoga therapist first. A teacher can provide modifications for specific injuries or ailments.
